Dr Stef Kouvaras
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ experience working in the NHS and privately across the lifespan. I have worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for the last 5 years and my experience includes working with children and adolescents as well as parents and the family system more widely. Additionally, I have worked closely with schools to ensure a holistic approach to the work. I am experienced in working with neurodiversity such as ADHD and ASD and work in a neuro affirming way.
I would describe myself as an integrative psychologist and draw from a range of therapeutic models including Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I also draw on attachment, systemic, narrative and trauma informed principles and have further training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Starting therapy can feel daunting so my priority will be for us to build a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship. We will begin by developing a shared understanding of what has brought you to therapy and explore your hopes for therapy together. As we continue to work together, I will check in regularly to ensure the therapy is feeling helpful.
I am fully registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, which is the governing body for Clinical Psychologists in the UK. My registration number is PYL38973.
